Is Kodak Smart TV better than other Smart TVs?
Kodak will face a tough competition from other new entrants in the Smart TV market like LeEco and Micromax as well as from the established Smart TV brands like Samsung, Song, LG etc.
On comparing the features of Kodak 32 inch HD Smart TV with Samsung 32 inch HDTV I realized that there is no extraordinary or mind-blowing features that would distinguish Kodak from Samsung or other brands. You can definitely check out other newer brands like LeEco, which is loaded with features for the same price. But when it comes to price point, these new brands are a definite bang for your buck when compared to the established brands.
What Kodak should have done differently?
The LED and OLED television market in India is expected to grow at an estimated CAGR of 40% by FY 2019. With such a huge growth prospect I wish there was some unique audio or visual features in the Kodak Smart TV, which would have made them stand out from other players in the market. Kodak’s Smart TV launch seems to be a desperate and an under-researched attempt to enter the Smart TV market segment. Price, being the only attractive component it would be interesting to see how Kodak fights it way out to survive in the market.
