Indian Space Research Organization just launched it’s new website with a new design, new formats and new content and it’s looking awesome!
The old website was much criticized for it’s old design and poor navigational abilities. Much of it looked like an amateurish attempt done in the 90’s.
However, updated content was never an issue on the ISRO website. There were updates about the missions, new endeavors, projects and upcoming events from ISRO.
The new website however is very trendy and is much more easy on the eyes and thumb. It is mobile friendly and can be accessed on any platform with ease.
Techies however have already noticed issues with the new website. Like reported on one Reddit thread, someone reported that a line of code is wrong as it appeared on the site.
Line #19 in html.tpl.php:
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lora' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>" media="all" />
It should be:
<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lora' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
I believe it’s affecting other ‘bells and whistles’ of the site.
Even with such minor errors, the website is a big leap in terms of technology and usability. We’ve seen such big switches in Governmental portals soon after the Modi led BJP government has come to power, in the last six months.
The website is available in Hindi, but that is the old version.
