There is no particular reason why they might cause us trouble, but Canker Sores do hurt and irritate us. They turn your favorite foods into nightmare’s and would make their stinging presence felt, time and again.

Generally, canker sores take around 1-2 weeks to heal, but if you take necessary steps, they may even disappear in a matter of days.

Some of these notable steps include –

Use of Baking Soda – Baking soda is of use in almost anything. Generally, a solution of baking soda and warm water is used to rinse away the pain caused by canker sores. However, if you want to get rid of it, make a paste out of the same warm water and baking soda and apply directly over the sore. This would initially hurt a little, but would definitely free you from the problem.

Using Plum Juice – Plum juice is quite effective in dealing with problems related to canker sores. 1-2 tablespoons of the same used for rinsing the mouth eases the pain caused by the sores. However, if you dab the canker sore with a cotton ball dipped in plum juice, you would surely get rid of the trouble in a matter of days.

Help from Tea Bags – Keeping a wet tea bag over the canker sore for several minutes would relieve you of the pain. If done a few times, regularly, it even gets rid of the problem.

Saline solution – A mixture of salt and water gets rid of the bacteria. Hence, if you wish to get rid of your canker sore, try rinsing your mouth with the saline solution. If done 2-3 times a day, it will surely help you.

Alum – Don’t know where to find alum? It’s there in the spice section in almost every store. However, being a spice, it would cause a stinging sensation once applied on the canker sore. If you are ready to brave this pain and use alum 2-3 times a day, it would cure the canker sore.

Copper Sulfate – This has been in use for many decades in dealing with canker sores. Copper Sulfate works as an astringent and hence deals with the problem quite well. However, when applied on the sore, it would burn very badly. But, the good news is the fact that it may cure the sore in a matter of two days flat.

Clove oil to the rescue – Clove oil may not cure the canker sore, but it numbs the area and relieves you of the excruciating pain every time you open your mouth to speak or to chew your food.
