There are a lot of Yoga training institutes in India that you can choose from. It would be better to choose a place that will help you to learn yoga while providing a serene environment.

Some examples of scenic places in India that offer traditional yoga courses are:

  • Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

Some Things to Look for When Selecting an Institute

Before you get enrolled in a yoga training institute, here are some enquiries you should make:

  1. Is the training center Registered Yoga Teacher (RYS) certified?
  2. What is the level of experience and expertise of the trainers at the institute?
  3. Which styles of Yoga do they teach?
  4. What is the maximum number of students in a training batch?
  5. Is the environment around the institute suitable for learning yoga?
  6. How good are the facilities provided by the institute?

Practice, Practice and More Practice

Mainly, there are two levels of yoga certification. The first one requires training for a duration of 200 hours and is mandatory if you are looking to make a career as a yoga instructor. Without a training course that does not last a minimum of 200 hours, most facilities will not hire you as an instructor. The average time taken to complete this level is about three to five months. But if you practice diligently, it can take less time.

The second level of certification is for those who wish to open their own yoga training institute someday. Many people who have completed the first level course continue on to the second level to improve their future prospects. It spans a duration of 500 hours and on an average takes six months to a year. Again, it can take less time if you practice all the asanas and exercises regularly.
