Which Countries Can You Visit with a US Visa?

You can visit more than 30 countries visa-free if you have a valid US visa. Yes, you heard it right. And, if you have a valid US green card, you could travel to up to 35 countries visa-free!

Given the stringent verification process followed by the US before it grants a visa to any traveler across the world, many countries seem to have faith that a US visa is one way to know that the individual is unlikely to be a criminal or a terrorist, or in fact someone with malevolent intensions.

Major Reason Why Countries Allow Visa-Free Entry to US Visa Holders

  1. Extremely Strict Screening: Amongst all the visas available in the world, the US visa is one of the most difficult to obtain, since the application process involves highly strict screening. This is why a US visa gives assurance that the traveler has already been rigorously screened for their travel intentions and criminal history. In fact, to enhance the vetting of potential immigrants and visitors, the State Department under the Trump Administration has made it mandatory for US visa applicants to submit their social media usernames, previous email addresses and phone numbers, says The Independent.
  2. Ensure Intent to Go Back Home: The US visa is a temporary visa and is issued for a specific period of time. A visitor who overstays this period is said to have illegally stayed in the US. To avoid illegal stays or overstays, the US Embassies across the world ensure that each applicant has strong ties to their home country. In other words, this requirement is non-negotiable – the applicant needs to have good reason to return to their home country and not stay on in the US.
  3. Financial Resources: During the US visa application process, applicants are also required to establish their financial stability and their ability to take care of their expenses while in the US. So, if you have a US visa, other countries are assured of your financial stability as well.

So, given all these reasons, here are the countries that allow visa-free entry to travelers with a valid US visa.
