Coughs are consistent and annoying and they refuse to go away easily. There are some substances that irritate the air passage and our body gets rid of the irritants through cough. Add a pinch of salt into a glass of lukewarm water, rinse your mouth with it and start gurgling. You should gurgle every two-three hours for better results.

It’s a very effective cure for cough. Make some tea for yourself and then add two teaspoons of ginger paste in it. Drink ginger tea at least twice a day to get rid of the itchiness in the throat.

Milk with Honey

Having a cup of warm milk with one teaspoon of honey added in it soothes your throat and keeps it warm. One must drink it before going to bed.

Milk and Turmeric

Turmeric power when added to warm milk can provide respite from the irritation and itchiness in the throat which leads to coughing. Turmeric powder acts as an antiseptic and therefore it also helps is reducing the swelling in the glands.

Coughing can be a symptom of grave diseases such as tuberculosis; pneumonia etc. so, if you are suffering from inconsistent coughing for more than a week, seek medical help.
